THE CAMBODIA INITIATIVE

The world is in need. Sometimes that fact can be so overwhelming that it paralyzes you. There is so much to be done, where do you start? You are ready to make a difference but how can you help?

The Cambodia Initiative is a cause created for those who want to make a lasting and sustainable impact in their world. This cause encompasses a wide variety of ministry such as relief efforts for those trapped in the human- sex trafficking industry, rescuing at risk orphans who live on the streets and bringing them into a safe, family orientated orphanage that they can call home. The project includes purchasing a farm to provide long term funding for this orphanage, providing both food and income for education and the various costs involved in running an orphanage.

During the Village trek portion of the trip, teams will travel to Kampong Tong and minister God’s love to the people, many who may have never before heard the message of Jesus. Teams will hold children’s carnivals and various humanitarian relief projects through the Medical Team and Hygiene Education Project.

ORPHAN RESCUE

Where will you sleep tonight? That is a question that approximately 163 million orphans are unable to answer. Many of them will go to sleep tonight without a roof over their head, a bed to lie on, or food in their stomach. If you could change this, would you? You can.

Join the Cambodia Initiative as they work in conjunction with a local orphanage to rescue orphans off the streets. The Rescue Team will travel throughout the village region and work together with the local government to bring these children to a place they can call home. To donate click here.

NIGHT OF REFUGE

Sadly, the sex-trafficking industry is a global epidemic that affects millions of women and children every year. A 2003 study indicates that there are an estimated 80,000 commercial sex workers in Cambodia, 30% of which are under the age of 18. In response to this, Go International has created the “Night of Refuge”. During the Night of Refuge, a team will travel to the Red Light District of Phnom Penh in order to “purchase” prostitutes for the evening.

Sound risqué?

You are probably right.

But if we don’t reach them who will?

The Night of Refuge will be unlike any night that these girls have known. The Refuge Team will spend the evening building friendships with these ladies and connecting them with a ministry that can help them leave the sex-trafficking industry. Many of these ladies will hear for the first time about a God who loves them and accepts them just as they are- with unconditional love and forgiveness. For these women, this night will be a night of refuge from their nightly routine and regular customers, and it will be the spark that ignites change in their lives. To donate click here.

VILLAGE TREK

There are people that have never heard the name Jesus. As an American this may seem a little hard to believe; our reality offers a Bible on every bookshelf and a church on every street corner. However, the reality in Cambodia is drastically different. With 95% of their population being Buddhist, many Cambodians have never even heard the name of Jesus.

Surrounded by jungle, this rural country is filled with loving people eager to hear the message of Christ. Each day you and your team will travel to villages and minister to the children through hosting carnivals. Build friendships with these precious people and watch them come alive as God uses you to make a lasting impact in their lives.

MEDICAL CLINICS

What if you could educate an entire people group about how to prevent the most common diseases they face? What if you could bring practical help to children who desperately need the skills you have?

This summer, doctors, dentists, optometrists, nurses, and medical professionals are needed to participate in the Cambodia Initiatives Medical clinics. You will have the opportunity to treat many of the common diseases that plague these rural village communities.

To stop the recurrence of diseases that affect their children on a daily basis, you will also be able to participate in educating parents on effective prevention measures they can take. Through life-changing, hands-on demonstrations, you can provide the lasting gift of health to people who desperately need the knowledge you have.

God’s love will shine brightly as you put your skills to work. Mothers who can now keep their children healthy because of what you’ve taught them, will see the love of God in action; changing your life and theirs. FARM

On average, sponsoring an orphan for one month costs $45.
The means the yearly figure would be approximately $540.
If a child were sponsored from birth to the age of 18 the cost would be $9,720.
Sponsoring 80 orphans from birth to 18 would cost $777,600.

This summer, Go International is purchasing a 120-parcel farm in Cambodia. The purchase of this farm will allow an orphanage to take in and care for 80 orphans. This $12,000 farm will provide three meals a day for 80 orphans, as well as creating a source of revenue for the orphanage, resulting in the orphanage becoming self-funded.
