Health Update on Greg

I hope this post finds you doing great.  I wanted to write to give you an update on some things that have been going on in our lives as well as to ask for your prayers.

A few weeks after the summer Justice Tour team and 7 month Submerge team returned to the states I began to experience some health issues.  It began with some itchy "spots" on my skin which was followed by sporadic aches in my body.  Wanting to be proactive I booked several appointments with local dermatologists which then lead to an appointment with an oncologist.  I never imagined at 33 years old that I'd be sitting in the office of a cancer doctor.  At his request we initiated a series of tests including CT scans, and multiple biopsies.

Last week we received the results back from the CT scan and THANK GOD it came back clear with no signs of internal cancer.  We are still waiting on the results of the 2nd biopsy as the first proved inconclusive.  At this point we feel much more peace than we did several weeks ago.  Knowing that whatever it is that's going on is contained to my skin and is not internal is a huge sigh of relief.  At this point the disease they are checking for is classified as chronic but not generally considered to be life threatening and can be treated topically in most cases.

As a minister there is a temptation to not share your present journey and only be transparent once the victory is realized.  We believe however that part of the victory is obtained by allowing others to be part of our story and journey with us through a challenging time.  We are asking that you would agree with us in prayer for the following:

  • Health and wholeness in my body.
  • A positive biopsy result.
  • Provision to cover the unexpected medical costs.
  • Peace in the midst of the storm.

Many of you know how quickly medical bills can add up when facing circumstances like these especially in the midst of us expecting a baby in January.  If you would like to make a donation to help us cover these unexpected medical expenses you can do so by CLICKING HERE.

We are grateful for your prayers and support and look forward to sharing a positive report with you soon!  We have decided to go ahead with our plan to return to the states and use the tickets we had already purchased for our annual furlough home.  We fly out tonight and will be in MA, AZ, and OK during the next 8 weeks.  We hope to see many of you during our trip home.

In spite of this latest challenge we are undeterred about what we are doing with our lives.  This past year has truly been incredible and much has been accomplished.  We are expectant about what the future holds for our lives and the work of Go International here in Ecuador.  Thank you again for your prayers, love, and support.

Journeying Together,

Greg and Christa Baca

PS
Since I've already asked you to pray I'd like to ask you to pray for a friend of mine while you're at it.  Romaro Gore is a friend from my days in Bible School and he was recently diagnosed with leukemia.  Romaro is married with 4 small children.  We are standing in faith with him that he would be completely healed.  Thank you for including him and his family in your prayers as well.
