Saint Francis of Assisi said, “Preach the gospel always. If necessary, use words.” You will demonstrate this through humanitarian and service projects throughout the city. Between food ministries to the poor, a weekly ministry in a juvenile detention center, and various third-party outreaches, you will have many opportunities to display God’s love.

TRAFFICKED CHILDREN

One of the areas of emphasis for you will be in Quito’s nightlife district where you will work directly with the many street children who are trafficked each weekend from surrounding villages. Many of these children are forced to sell items on the streets, steal, or are sold as sex-slaves. These children are forced to work late into the night trying to meet quotas for their traffickers. Most are sold by their families for the weekend for around $10. In response, our ministry base holds a weekly children’s program called Carpa Loca (“Crazy Tent”), a high-energy program designed to teach the children important, life-changing values. You and your team will participate in this program and bring hope and joy to these special children.

We believe that sharing our faith shouldn’t be religious, but should be part of a natural dialogue. Our creative campaigns provide a visual centerpiece through which we can enter into real conversations. It is our aim to empower you with tools that will allow you to demonstrate the Love of God in an approachable, normal, and yes--even cool way.  Together, we will minister using these outreaches and creative campaigns. As a ministry, Go International’s Missions Base does approximately seven outreaches a week in some of the roughest parts of the city.  We’ve found that often the people that we encounter don’t feel like they “fit in” within traditional churches. It is with this in mind that we launched a church plant here in Quito, ONE UIO.

ONE UIO may not look or feel like a typical church from the outside, but each service proudly proclaims the transformative message of Christ. The church has been meeting in a popular music venue called El Garage (The Garage). Every week we give people a new reason to come to the “Garage”--to have an encounter with the living God. Your team will attend one of the ONE services, as well as tell people we encounter through our times of ministry about the ONE church plant.

Everyday will begin with a session designed to inspire you to reach new places in your walk with God. Trust us, the sessions aren’t going to make you want to curl up and take a nap- but will get you ready to go out and do what you’ve always dreamed of doing. It’s not about hype we are focused on empowering you to help people, and in turn, awaken a newfound passion for God in your heart.

      

ADVENTURE
We believe that if you are going to travel the world you need to see it, too. You can be sure that every trip with Go International is crammed packed with adventure. During your downtime in Quito you can straddle both sides of the hemisphere at the equatorial line, tour the city and visit the historic Old Town, shop in local markets, or even climb one of the many nearby mountains that overlooks beautiful Quito. Have you ever wanted to scale down a waterfall? Go zip-lining through the jungle canopy? Swing at the end of the world?  This year we will spend two days of our trip in Banos, a mountain town known for these adventures.
