We are Greg and Christa Baca, founders and directors of Go International.tv. We are lovers of life, travel, adventure, food and people. We currently live in the South American nation of Ecuador with our sweet little boy Zion. We began our life’s journey together more than 13 years ago when we met volunteering for another organization. We became friends, quickly fell in love, and married in 2003. Upon returning from our honeymoon we quit our full time jobs in order to have the business day to launch Go International.tv. Greg took a job in the evenings as a waiter and Christa ran a small graphics business from our apartment. We didn’t have much, but we had a dream in our heart.
The first years were rough, but we had a desire to see people around the world live the life they were created to live, and that pushed us onward. A turning point in our life came one winter night when our electricity had been shut off because we were literally out of money. We had given every last dollar we had to a project we were doing in Peru (Please do not try this at home. We have learned much from our early days). As we laid in bed clinging to each other for warmth our minds raced.
“If God is in this shouldn’t it be easier?”
“Why aren’t more people willing to help us when we are giving everything we have?”
“Maybe we should just quit and go make money!”
These thoughts were quickly replaced with another. We had recently watched the Passion of the Christ which so vividly depicts the price Jesus paid for humanity. The thought we had was this: “Jesus paid such a great price that we might know him. What price were we willing to pay so that others may know him?” That night something was settled on the inside of us. We would not quit, we would work harder, we would figure out a way to help people around the world and we were willing to pay a price.
As hard as those first years were we wouldn’t change a thing. We learned lessons we could not have learned any other way. We learned the value of hard work, partnership, planning, and execution. We learned how to turn ideas into realities.
Initially Go International focused only on short term mission trips around the world. Over the years however we also developed; Go Internship, Go Apprenticeship, Go Campaigns, The Mystery Trip, Go Bases, and most recently Submerge. All of these initiatives aim to point people towards Christ and help them experience the type of life Jesus described in the Gospels when he said that he came to give “...abundant life.” We believe that it is God’s will for us to live an incredible life here on earth. Not in a self serving kind of way, rather it is our belief that to truly live a fulfilled life it must be lived in service to others. As we have sought to share the Gospel and God’s love with people around the world He has allowed us to truly live our dreams.
Together we have journeyed to more than 25 countries of the world and been fortunate enough to see things most people only see in the movies or read about in books. We have trekked through the Andes, hopped Caribbean islands, navigated the waters of the amazon, explored ancient temples, tasted exotic cuisine, and best of all met the most amazing people on the planet.
We view life as one incredible journey and we are grateful that God has allowed the two of us to journey together. We are not perfect people and readily acknowledge that. There is more that we don’t know than what we do know. We believe that life is dynamic and that we can learn and grow from every season we find ourselves in. We are seekers of knowledge, truth, and of genuine relationships. We believe in people. We love people. We seek to bring the best out in people.
Our hope is that our lives can serve as an inspiration to others, that with God we can live our dreams while helping our fellow man.
